Volunteer Art Docent Program
Edgerton Elementary

WE NEED YOU!

Mr. Kovacs is very interested in having a Volunteer Art Docent Program at Edgerton Elementary. This program will be designed to bring more art (hands-on, techniques, and art history) into the classrooms on a once-a-month basis. The lessons will be very user friendly – everything is laid out in clear language and all steps are outlined. The supplies will be on hand at the school so all it will take will be some interested volunteers to lead the lessons! Training classes will also be available!

YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE ARTISTIC TO DO THIS!

Would you be interested in helping get this going? We will be using existing programs in the District as guidelines and also coordinating with InterUrban Center for the Arts so this will not require creating a program from the ground up!

Art Docent Program at Edgerton

Are you a lover of the Arts?

Have you wondered how we can preserve an arts-in-school program during this era of state standards?

Do you want to get involved more at Edgerton?

Well, have we got a program for you!

It is our hope that Edgerton has a healthy and sustainable Art Docent Program. Our vision is to have a large pool of trained volunteers to help with art lessons in our classrooms. We will be modeling our work after that of Brouillet and Wildwood. We want to make connections to real artists and their artwork (and various art movements), so the students are not only working on their creativity, but also learning skills and history along the way. We will need to create lessons, put together bins of materials, and have sample work to help guide our students. Volunteers would work directly in the classrooms positively impacting our students with these efforts. A culminating event would be an art-celebration of sorts with both visual and performing arts being shown off by our students to the public. If we have enough interest, we could put aside money to help kick-off these efforts and know that we do have a kiln on campus as well.

If interested, look for more information coming on this topic. I thank you in advance for your consideration!
